In early September I photographed a two-event, all-day wedding in Boston. We began in the morning at the Westin Copley with a traditional Indian wedding. At night, we headed to the ICA Boston for their summer evening soiree.

I often think about how weddings are transformational, particularly in how we see ourselves. The people I work with – most of them are already married before their wedding day. At least they are already married in their hearts and minds. The wedding is just the public proclamation and celebration of a marriage which already exists. I learned about that concept from a former Greek Orthodox deacon who presided over a few weddings I photographed.

For me, part of the transformation I witness comes in the form of atmosphere, place, celebration, and personal beauty. Those elements were abundant throughout this wedding day.

Some vendor details: Gabrielle Stone of Stone Event Planning planned and coordinated both events. Orly Khon provided the gorgeous floral designs. My friend Kelly Lorenz served as second photographer.
