Harvard Art Museum Wedding

One evening in October, Dylan and Michael were married at their Harvard Art Museum wedding. As the library closed its doors to patrons, wedding guests gathered at the lantern strewn front steps of the museum. After a ceremony in the museum’s courtyard, guests mingled in the downstairs art galleries. This was my third museum wedding in the past year.

Just a few technical/photo notes because I photographed this Harvard Art Museum wedding a bit differently than usual. First, I used medium format digital –the Fuji GFX 50s — for many of the portraits and much of the ceremony. It was so much fun playing with this gorgeous medium format camera. I also employed supplemental off-camera lighting for a few moments at the end of the ceremony. Off-camera flash isn’t my usual approach, but I thought it would work well in the evening, interior courtyard ceremony setting. And finally, I was back with my multi-talented friend Li Ward (of Fat Orange Cat Studio and LiWardian), who served as second photographer and took some of the wonderful images that you see here. Over the years, together we have photographed some of my favorite weddings, taking place at venues such as Rosecliff and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Some vendor notes: Catering and day-of organization provided by The Catered Affair. Florals designed by Table & Tulip. DJ’ing by Beat Train Productions.
