I met Jama a few weeks before her wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel. We agreed that while we would go in with an agenda, we needed to see “what it felt like” once we were there, and before we made any final-final decisions about how we would photograph. As someone who designs interiors, Jama struck me as approaching her wedding in a very organized yet intuitive way.
When it came to their wedding day, Jama and Steve’s intuitive and flexible approach paid off. They planned to have their wedding ceremony on their catamaran sailboat. Jama would arrive with her sons on a power boat, with Steve greeting her on the catamaran and guests welcoming her on the dock. But a sudden thunderstorm with torrential winds, lighting, and pouring rain meant that those plans would change. Or would they? Working with the Boston Harbor Hotel, Jama and Steve decided to let their guests mingle for an impromptu, pre-ceremony cocktail “hour.” The storm soon passed, and they proceeded with their dock ceremony. I’m so glad they did!
