Next in the series of my favorite wedding venues: Chatham Bars Inn. Chatham Bars Inn has some of the best photography light with which I’ve ever worked. That may be why I’ve taken some of my favorite wedding portraits there. In the minutes around sunset, their beach is one of the true pleasures of photographing weddings on Cape Cod. Sunset at the Chatham Bars Inn shows off so many colors — pastels that play on the sand and water and lend a soft blush to wedding portraits.
Besides having beautiful light and beachfront location, the Inn also has history. Built in 1914, it remains one of the great inns of a bygone era. Wedding guests can stay at the resort, turning the celebration into a weekend getaway experience. The Inn is also quintessential Cape Cod, with weathered gray white cedar shingled buildings trimmed in white, a waterfront view throughout the wedding events and locations, tall beach grasses, and slatted wooden beach walk pathways.
I’m looking forward to photographing here again this fall. Below are a few images from past Chatham Bars Inn weddings that I’ve photographed.
