2014 was the year of Rehearsal Dinner photography coverage. Eight weddings that I photographed this year included coverage of a rehearsal dinner or pre-wedding festivities, which was a big change. I think in the five years previous I only photographed three rehearsal dinners. The demand started when I began showing rehearsal dinners on my blog and offering this kind of coverage in packages.
As far as photography jobs go, rehearsal dinners are pretty relaxing. I show up at a party, watch, mingle, and document. The next day I walk into the wedding and everyone says “Hi Lisa!” Guests and the wedding couple are already at ease with being photographed because they’ve *worked* with me. And the photos…. I love the photos! It’s mostly candid and documentary. However we usually do a few formal photos as well, just for fun and practice.
Here are just a few of the rehearsal dinners and pre-wedding parties that I’ve documented over the past two years. They took place in New Hampshire, the North Shore, Martha’s Vineyard, and Newport, Rhode Island.
